What we fix

Real problems, real fixes

In Scottsdale, plumbing systems can vary widely depending on your home's age and exact location. For example, a 1965 ranch home off Indian School has cast-iron drain lines, original, mature ash and Palo Verde trees over the sewer run (the underground sewer pipe that connects to septic tanks or the municipal sewer line).

A 2008 home in DC Ranch or Grayhawk has polyvinyl chloride (PVC) drain lines, a longer sewer run to the street, and Homeowners Association (HOA) rules about service vehicle access. We work across Scottsdale, and our plumbers are equipped to handle all types of drainage and plumbing systems.

Older Scottsdale Homes

For older central Scottsdale homes, the most common drain call we get is a main line backup caused by tree root intrusion at a pipe joint. These backups can occur when underground sewer pipes develop tiny cracks or holes. When moisture slowly leaks from these minor abrasions, underground tree roots are naturally drawn to the water. Over time, the roots enter the pipes and expand, causing blockages.

The trees are part of what makes the neighborhood, so we're not removing them. But we can locate the intrusion with a sewer camera, clear it with a hydro-jet (the process of using highly-pressurized water to flush pipes and remove blockages), and tell you whether you're looking at a recurring annual cleaning or a section that needs to be repaired before it collapses.

North Scottsdale and Master Planned Communities

For North Scottsdale and master-planned communities, the calls are different: longer sewer runs, slower-moving grease and soap buildup in main lines, and occasional venting issues in two-story homes that show up as gurgling toilets or slow shower drains.

We carry the equipment to handle everything from slow drains to heavy clogs and blockages. Our equipment and tools include hand augers for sink and tub drains, power cable machines for branch lines, hydro-jet equipment for heavy main line buildup, and sewer cameras for diagnosis.

What factors affect the cost of drain cleaning in Scottsdale?

  1. Tree root intrusion in older neighborhoods

Mature ash, mesquite, and Palo Verde tree roots over sewer runs in central/south Scottsdale can lead to significant drain line blockages. This explains why most root jobs cost more than buildup jobs and why we only provide root job quotes with camera footage.

  2. Length and configuration of the sewer run

North Scottsdale, Troon, DC Ranch, and Pinnacle Peak homes generally have runs of 80 to 150+ feet, while most runs in older central Scottsdale are approximately 30 to 60 feet.

  3. Clean out access

Pre-1980 homes in Old Town, South Scottsdale, and Cactus Corridor often lack exterior clean-outs (capped sewer line access point). If we have to access pipes through your roof vent or a pulled toilet, this can add time to the job.

Diagnostic & Estimates

A standard drain clearing visit includes diagnosis. We assess the severity of the clog and recommend the right approach (cable, jet, or camera) before starting work. If a camera inspection is needed, we add that cost to the estimate before proceeding.

What to Expect

How We Work in Scottsdale

The same three-step rhythm on every job. Diagnose first, price up front, then do the work and stand behind it.

1

Step 1: Schedule a visit that fits your situation

Most Scottsdale drain calls are same-day or next-day, and we treat sewage backups as 24/7 emergency dispatch situations. If you're a snowbird or have a property manager handling the call, we coordinate the appointment, send a confirmation, and provide before/after documentation. If your HOA requires advance notice for service vehicles or a specific entry process, let us know when you book your service call, and we'll make sure to follow the proper protocols.

2

Step 2: We'll clear the blockage and run a camera if the issue is recurring

On your service day, your technician evaluates the drain, picks the right tool for the job, and clears the line. For recurring main line clogs that are especially common in central Scottsdale homes with mature trees over the sewer run, we recommend a sewer camera inspection. It's the only honest way to know whether you're dealing with root intrusion, grease buildup, an offset joint, or a compromised sewer line.

3

Step 3: We'll walk you through what we found and provide recommendations

If your plumbing system needs anything beyond drain cleaning, we'll walk you through the cause of the clog and provide a written recommendation. If it was a one-time buildup, we'll share what to do to keep it from coming back. If we found roots or pipe damage, we'll show you the camera footage and lay out repair options — no pressure, no upsell games.

Testimonial

"Found a reliable, conscientious, straight-talking plumber."

"First rate service. I have finally found a reliable, conscientious, straight-talking plumber who didn’t come to upsell me but to do the job needed, fastidiously. Five star service. Will definitely recommend and hire this company from now on. Thank you again."

Pro Tip

Tree Roots and Older Scottsdale Sewer Lines: What We Usually Find

The mature ash, mesquite, and Palo Verde trees that make older Scottsdale neighborhoods feel like Scottsdale are also the most common cause of mainline backups in those same neighborhoods. Tree roots aren't drawn to healthy sewer lines — they're drawn to the moisture and nutrients that escape through tiny cracks, separated joints, or hairline failures in older cast iron and clay pipe. Once a single root finds its way in, it expands inside the line and catches everything that flows past it.

Cabling will clear it. Hydro-jetting will clean the line and cut the roots back to the pipe wall. But neither one repairs the entry point. For homes where we document root intrusions twice in the same spot, we'll usually recommend a camera-located spot repair or a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining — both of which are far less invasive than a full dig-and-replace. The right answer depends on the camera footage and the age and material of the line. We'll show you what we see and lay out the options.
